This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on law-o-matic.com. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.

1. How consent works here

We use CookieYes as our consent management platform. On your first visit a banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies, with Accept and Decline given equal prominence. Your choice is stored so we can honour it on later visits.

Nothing in the analytics category loads before you opt in. The analytics script is not merely blocked from setting a cookie — it is not loaded at all until consent is given.

2. Categories we use

Strictly necessary — always active. These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They cover your sign-in session, security and bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), and the record of your own cookie choices. Without them you could not sign in or run a scan.

Analytics — off until you accept. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-66FDL8RSYK) to understand aggregate usage: which pages are visited and where people drop out. It is configured for aggregate measurement, not advertising. If you decline, GA4 is never loaded and no analytics cookie is set.

Advertising and marketing — none. We do not run advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not use session-replay tools. There is no such category to accept.

The exact cookie names, providers and durations in each category are listed in the detail view of the consent banner, which is generated from a scan of the live site so it stays accurate as the site changes.

3. Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Click Your Privacy Choices or Cookie preferences in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and switch any category on or off.

You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you clear the cookie that stores your choice, the banner will ask again on your next visit.

4. Why this matters to us

Law-O-Matic checks other websites for cookies that fire before consent. It would be indefensible for this site to do the thing it flags, so we hold ourselves to the same test and scan our own site with our own tool.
